Working with ecosystems of partners requires thinking and I’m eager to listen to Mark Greeven‘s view on this interesting topic.
Ecosystems have been on the agenda for some years, boosted by words as innovation or disruption, technologies as APIs, or regulations as PSD2. It’s not a new concept however. Firms across industries have long been doing business in such a way. Learning from them is essential.
Less obvious is the insurance industry. Insurance companies have been working with partners for ages, to sell their products but also to co-create products, sharing resources on marketing and going to market together. We just didn’t call it an ecosystem.
Today, some companies are still focusing inward, not outward. That’s a challenge. For them, revisiting proactively the way they work with partners is crucial, in order to leverage other people’s resources and creativity, create the “network effect”, and collect and mine data effectively.
