Agenda – There is a webinar on “leveraging partners in disruptive times” at IMD Business School on April 14 (11-12 CET) by Mark Greeven, professor of Innovation and strategy.
Working with ecosystems of partners requires thinking and I’m eager to listen to Mark Greeven‘s view on this interesting topic.
Ecosystems have been on the agenda for some years, boosted by words as innovation or disruption, technologies as APIs, or regulations as PSD2. It’s not a new concept however. Firms across industries have long been doing business in such a way. Learning from them is essential.
The software industry is an obvious first choice. Salesforce or Microsoft have built efficient ecosystems. We all know.
Less obvious is the insurance industry. Insurance companies have been working with partners for ages, to sell their products but also to co-create products, sharing resources on marketing and going to market together. We just didn’t call it an ecosystem.
Today, some companies are still focusing inward, not outward. That’s a challenge. For them, revisiting proactively the way they work with partners is crucial, in order to leverage other people’s resources and creativity, create the “network effect”, and collect and mine data effectively.
